AN ENDOWMENT - HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?
The need to attract contributions for an endowed fund is clearly related to the
Board’s desire to insure the long range health, welfare and growth of Pendragon.
The Fund is designed to supplement the operating budget, to take the “bumps out
of the road” and insure a level of support for personnel, which includes some
measure of health and other benefits. To date these amenities have been sorely
lacking. Such a resource will also allow the organization to assemble the kind
of year round company that will increase earned income, which presently accounts
for about 64% of operations. That company would be composed of more full-time
people and fewer people relying on a patchwork of part-time jobs. The existing
fund (approximately $165,000.) was supplemented several months ago with the acquisition
of an apartment building, which is helping to seriously reduce the costs associated
with performer/staff accommodations. This is clearly a long- range asset as valuable
as dollars in the Bank! The goal for the endowment is one million dollars. While
one would never refuse increases to that goal(!), such a fund would insure the
stability of a staff of five full-time and five part-time employees - a solid
Pendragon Theatre for the future. If you are interested in helping with the Endowment
please contact Bob Pettee, Managing Director, at the Theatre.
Pendragon
Theatre is supported in part by public funds from the New York State Council on
the Arts, a New York State agency.
