Adirondack Bike Trails

Black Bear Mountain
This beautiful trail located in Old Forge offers views of the lake and can get hard at the end but most of the trip is for intermediate riding.

Bloomingdale Bog Trail
This 9 + mile trail is appropriate for beginners and all other levels. The trailhead is located off of Rt. 86. Approximately 1.3 miles north of the hospital take a right on a dirt road. This trail will take you through the wetlands surrounding Two Bridge and Niger Brooks. Most of the duration of this trail is level, but there is a short rough patch around Rt. 55 and some deep sand near Merrill Rd. The trail ends at Rt. 30 near Buck Pond State Campground, total of 9.8 miles.

Bubb Lake/Moss Lake Lake Loop
This magnificent trail ride is great for beginners and for those who really want to get a taste of the Adirondacks!

Deer Pond Loop Trail
6 miles west of Rt. 3 & Rt. 30 turn north on to Old Wawbeek Rd. The trailhead is clearly marked by a DEC sign. The first 2 + miles of this trail follows The Old Wawbeek Rd. After passing Mosquito Pond, and Deer Pond, you will hit a fork in the trail. The left fork leads to a pretty picnic spot, near the pond. To complete the loop< take the right fork, which leads to some tricky side hill riding, and then to a swamp. After navigating the bridge that crosses some wetlands you will join a truck trail. The last approximately 2 miles is a nice cruise.

Deer River State Forest Trails
A series of connecting loops allows bikers to choose a variety of terrains. The Deer River State Forest is made up of nerarly 12,000 acres of land in NW Franklin County. There are also a few public use campsites along the river.

Floodwood Loop Trail
To Locate the trailhead, take Rt. 30 to Saranac Inn, then take Floodwood Rd. Approximately 2 miles past Hoel Pond Rd. begin looking for snowmobile trail signs on your left. The ride begins on a snowmobile trail then turns into mostly rolling with some steep sections. A wooden bridge, and a view of Floodwood Pond will lead you to Rollins Pond State Campground. A paved road will complete your trip.

Forest Home Road Loop
This beautiful ride begins at the end of Forest Home Rd. in Saranac Lake. Through Lake Clear Junction, and onto Rd, this trail is mostly paved. rolling hills.

Grass Pond Trail
From the intersection of Rt. 30 and Rt. 86 Paul Smith's go approximately 3 + miles north, turning right on dirt road. Look for DEC signs for Hays Brook Assembly area. This beginner level ride takes you over the Osgood River, and then east to Grass Pond. There are two nice lean-tos on the east shore.

Hays Brook Trail
This trailhead is located in the same way as the Grass Pond Trail. This section of the trail is a beginner level cruise, crossing over the Osgood River, then through a boreal forest.

Hays Brook Spur Trail
Directions for the location of this trailhead are the same as for the Hatch Brook Loop Trail. A nice ride for any ability level, this trail takes you past a small pond on the left, then approximately 3 + miles on the spur trail. You will come to an old cabin site near Hays Brook.

Hatch Brook Loop Trail
Take Rt. 3 or Rt. 30 to NY 99 turn west on dirt road, where Hatch Brook crosses, just north of Loon Lake. Park at the south end of the field. This intermediate level ride, takes you over a ridge, then west past a pond. There is a single track section, just south of Hatch Brook.

Keese Mill Road
At the intersection of Rt. 30 & Rt. 86 in Paul Smith's there is a large parking area. This is a 20 mile one way trip, and it would be a good idea to park another car on Rt. 458 at the end of Blue Mountain Rd. This a beautiful ride, that takes you through a variety of terrains. You will cross the St. Regis River, travel through blueberry barrens and into a beautiful boreal forest.

Kushaqua Loop Trail
To begin this ride, park on the access road to Buck Pond State Campground. The entrance to Buck Pond, is off of County Road/Route 60. This beginner level ride takes you from Onchiota through Loon Lake, traveling much of the time along the beautiful north branch of the Saranac River.

Lake Clear Ponds Trail
To locate the trailhead, take NY Rt. 30 to Lake Clear Rd. Cross the railroad tracks, and about 1/4 mile later you will see an old road on your left. This is where you begin. This approximately 4 mile ride will take you past a number of small ponds, and on a former logging road. This is a trail that will appeal to beginner to intermediate.

Mecham Lake Trail
To reach this trailhead, take either Rt. 3 or 30 to NY 99, turning west on the dirt road where Hatch Brook crosses the road. Follow this road for a little over two miles, and park at the end of the field. This is a mixture of relatively easy riding and more difficult terrain. You will cross over Winnebago Pond, and continue on until you arrive at Meacham Lake State Campground.

Nelson Lake/Remsen Falls
A nice ride on the snowmobile trails through the Adirondack woods. This backcountry trail will put you on the Snowmobile trails through the of the Adirondacks woodlands. Beautiful Ride!

North Branch Loop

Old Forge Mountainbike Trail System.
This Trail rides offer magnificent views of the Adirondack mountains as well as streams, ponds and lakes in Herkimer County.

Otter Hollow Loop Trail
Fish Creek Campground is where you will find the beginning of this trail. A day use fee must be paid at the gate. Generally this trail consists of rolling terrain, with some steep areas. After passing a number of ponds, the trail heads south to reach Rollins Pond State Campground.

Paul Smiths Loop
This trail begins right at Pauls Smiths College. This very enjoyable takes you over mostly paved roads, through Lake Clear Junction, Gabriels, and back into Paul Smiths.

Razorback Pond
This trail offers beautiful scenery of the mountains, lakes, and streams.

Sheep Meadow Trail
Take 86 north past the intersection of Rt. 30, and Rt. 86. (about 4 miles). Look for the dirt road on the right, and look for DEC markers. This is generally an easy cruise, following a truck trail, and a horse path. Crossing over the Osgood River, and the Hays Brook, the trail ends in a clearing.

Silver Lake Loop

Slush Pond Horse Trail
The trail begins off of NY Rt. 30, across from the Hays Brook Area. An enjoyable stretch, that most levels will enjoy. A couple of small hills make the ride a little more challenging, and the surroundings are beautiful.

Safford Pond
This trail ride will take you through two lakes: Big Moose Lake and Lake Rondaxe.

Stony Creek Ponds
Take Rt. 3 to Coreys Rd., which is located between Saranac Lake, and Tupper Lake. This trail is loaded with beautiful scenery, and gently rolling terrain.The Ampersand Brook, Raquette River, and Stoney Creek Pond are all passed on this trail.

Sunday Pond Trail
Take NY Rt. 30 west past Lake Clear Junction. Turn onto Fish Hatchery Rd. Follow the railroad tracks. Generally this trail is level throughout. It will take you past Rat Pond, and Sunday Pond. To complete, the trail, takes you NE towards Fish Hatchery Rd.

Trombley Landing
This beginner to intermediate level trail, begins just east of Tupper Lake, and the junction of Rt.3 and Rt. 30. The added bonus of a sandy beach at the end of this trail, make it even more fun. Some rolling hills and a mixture of easy terrain, make for a very fun ride.
